Chase: Sapphire bonus, once per card
You can earn the welcome bonus on each Sapphire card once, as long as you have never earned that card's bonus before. Holding the other Sapphire card no longer stops you.
In the issuer's terms The issuer states this, in a card's terms or an official statement.
What counts, and what doesn't
Applies to: Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve
- Having the Sapphire Preferred, and its bonus, doesn't stop you earning the Sapphire Reserve bonus, and the other way round.
- "Once" is per card: a second Sapphire Preferred bonus isn't possible, however long ago the first one was.
- Chase shows a notice during the application if you won't get the bonus, before you accept the card.
Changed January 22, 2026. Replaced the rule that holding either Sapphire card blocked the other card's bonus. Before June 2025 the rule was 48 months between Sapphire bonuses.
